Thinking About Nonprofit Cloud? Start Smart With These 4 Steps

If you’re considering a move from NPSP, another CRM, or even spreadsheets to Nonprofit Cloud, it can feel overwhelming.
Finding clear, accurate information is tough—especially since many resources mistakenly refer to NPSP and Nonprofit Cloud as the same thing (they’re not).
Before getting too far ahead, here’s how to evaluate and prepare to see if Nonprofit Cloud is the right fit for your organization:
1️⃣ Test it out: A free trial with sample data helps you explore features and get a feel for what a ‘real’ org would look like.
2️⃣ Map your processes: Before diving in, document how your team manages donors, gifts, programs, etc. —so you know what you actually need.
3️⃣ Compare capabilities: Align your processes and requirements with Nonprofit Cloud’s out-of-the-box features (e.g., Gift Entry, Commitments, Program & Benefit management). Even if you’re not a Salesforce expert, t-shirt size the alignment (high/medium/low) to see what it might take to make it work.
4️⃣ Build a proof of concept: Start small. Test real workflows with real data. If you have an in-house admin, great! If not, a POC can be a lower-budget, lower-risk way to test a potential partner and see how you work together before committing to a full implementation.
